Getting a domain name for your business and setting up mailbox is one of the very first things we do to start an online business.
In this tutorial I will help you create an email address by domain name, for example [email protected] instead of the general address @ gmail.com, @ live.com as usual. This brings professionalism, trust and a higher impression.
You must have a domain name to use Yandex’s service.
Yandex is the most popular search engine in Russia.
In the process of using it myself, I found that Yandex mail is quite stable, it feels better than Zoho . Therefore, when relatives and friends ask me for instructions on how to use Yandex, it is not recommended to use Zoho.
If you want to use Zoho, check out our tutorial on How to create FREE custom email addresses with Zoho Mail.
In short, if you want to use email with your own domain name, you should use external services such as Yandex , Zoho or Google Workspace (Formerly known as G Suite) . In this article, I will guide you to set up a domain name that works with Yandex’s Mail for Domain service .
I. Register for a Yandex account
First, please visit the link below:
Click Try out in the right corner of the screen.
On this screen, you can choose to Register, or Login with Facebook, Google, Twitter.
Fill out the information in the Registration box.

Visit the Yandex Connect page, press Continue then follow these screenshots.
After registration is complete, go to Admin tools .
Next, click the Plus button in Domains to add a new domain name.
Enter your domain name and click Add .
1. Confirm domain ownership
When configuring the domain name record, the update may take a few hours to 24 hours to complete. If the record does not receive immediately, please try another time.
You can choose 1 of 3 ways to verify the domain name:
– Method 1: Add Meta tag
Open the code of your site’s home page and add the yandex-verification meta tag to the head section. My example is <meta name=”yandex-verification” content=”c1b05668b94d4ea2″ />
– Method 2: Upload .html file
This way is required to have Web Hosting and the domain being pointed to this Hosting works normally. If you do not have Hosting, please move to the way below.
In Step 1. Verify domain ownership in the image above, create an .html file with the content specified. My example is file
bd544fd08889.html, in which content is required
After creating the file, upload it to the directory
public_html, check it by directly accessing the path
https://wixstudio.net/bd544fd08889.html, if the correct content is displayed.
– Method 3: Create a CNAME record for the domain name
Method 3 is simpler and does not need you to have Web Hosting, in the DNS management page of the domain name just create 1 CNAME record with the name as specified and point to
mail.yandex.com. Its example record is
After you do one of the two ways above, click on the Verify domain ownership button to confirm.
- The record takes up to 24 hours for the update to complete.
- You may have to add a dot to the record value to save it, specifically
2. Add DNS record
This step is very important, if the configuration is wrong you will not receive mail!
